    Description

The client required a 365 square meter house over two levels with four bedrooms, generous living area, services and a pool all on a subdivided 1300 square meter property in the inner west of Sydney. Following several options which included a new single and two level structures to the rear of the existing house; it was decided to replace the existing house with a new two level dwelling with a street address and open plan living areas directly linked to the external areas. Using masonry and concrete construction, the design includes large covered external living areas on the ground floor and upper level bedroom balcony allowing only the winter sun to enter and warm the internal areas whilst keeping cool in summer. The first floor has a continuous horizontal slot window opening that undulates according to the various internal uses. The whole building is finished with a white textured render offset by a band of horizontal green glazing and deep openings.
